Problem statement:

The participants should build a manually controlled wireless machine that can race on a track of different terrains like sand, speed-breakers, elevations, etc., and return to the start zone. The aim of the event is to check the robustness of the machine and its competence with the opponent on the same track.

The event consists of two rounds.

• The First round is an elimination round. Each team will be competing with an opponent and the team that completes the race track in least possible time will be promoted to next level. The losing team will be eliminated. If both the teams cannot finish the track, no team will be forwarded to the next round.

• In the second round, two teams will be competing at a time on the race track. The track will consist of different terrains and obstacles. Points will be awarded for successfully overcoming these hurdles. The team that bags more points will be the winner of the race.

• The teams are allowed to fight with each other after a certain point on the track in both the rounds.

Arena specifications:

• At a time two machines will compete with each other in the arena.

• The track is made up of ply wood.

• The track is painted black.

• The track is surrounded by a wall of height 2 cm on both sides. Machines going beyond these walls will be penalised.

• The track may contain water up to 1 cm depth. Take necessary precautions to insulate your vehicle.

• The angles for elevations will not exceed 45 degrees.

• The curvatures will be sufficient enough to allow the vehicle of above mentioned specifications.

• The Exact design and specifications will be uploaded after the abstract short listing.

Note: The design of the track is subjected to change without prior notice.

Machine specifications:

• The dimensions of the vehicle must be within 200mm X 200mm. (length x breadth)

Note: Length and breadth is measured to the extremities of the robot, i.e. includes any overhanging bodywork.

• There are no restrictions on the height of the vehicle.

-• The vehicle must be wireless. The machine must have two remote control circuits (or a dual frequency remote control circuit) which can be switched to either frequency before the start of the game. This is done to avoid frequency interference between the two competing machines.

• All teams will be required to submit their remote controls prior to the start of a round & the remotes will be handed over to the teams just before their turns.

• The weight of the vehicle should not exceed 5kg in any case. Weight of the vehicle will be checked before each race.

• The power supply for the vehicle should be contained on-board, and should not exceed 15V between any two points in the circuit.

• Participants should make their own arrangements for the power supply. No AC supply will be made available to the participants by the organisers.

• Use of readymade kits for the body or toy car chassis is not allowed. The judge’s decision is final in this regard.

• Use of IC engines or compressors is NOT allowed. All vehicles must depend only on motors for their propulsion and control.

Rules

• At the most 3 members will be allowed per team.

• Depending on the time constraints, each team will be given some stipulated time to test their vehicle on the track before the actual round

• Each vehicles starts from starting line, on the signal given by the event organisers. The timer will begin as soon as this signal is given.

• Your vehicle should always remain inside the track. If your vehicle leaves the track, at any point of time, it gets penalised.

• If your vehicle remains stationary for more than 30 seconds at any point during the race, it will be disqualified.

• You must not damage the track at any time

• The Coordinators hold the discretion to restart a race, in case of a valid reason to do so.

• You will not be permitted to touch your vehicle at any point during the race. Negative points will be awarded if are required to do so.

• You are not allowed to make any changes to your vehicle once the event commences.

• Obstacles will be placed at random places on the track. A penalty of 10% of the time taken by the machine to complete the total track is added to the total time if the machine collides with the obstacle. This penalty is for each obstacle and for each collision.

• You are allowed to fight with your opponent. But remember that your motto is to complete the race in least possible time. So do come up with a good strategy.

• The race is of single lap.

• Use of spiked wheels or release of grease or any other materials that would damage the track is dealt with serious consequences leading to disqualification of the team based on judge’s discretion.

• The organising team is not responsible for any kind of damage to your vehicle during the race.

• Each race will be held for a given amount of time which will be informed on the day of the event. If none of the teams completes the race in the stipulated time then the race is called off and both teams will be evaluated for their performance till then based on the judging criteria.

• The judge’s decision will be final and binding.

Judging criteria:

For Round 1:

• The teams which complete the race in least possible time will be qualified for Round 2. No points are counted for this round.

For Round 2:

• Teams will be tested for the robustness of their vehicle along with another opponent.

• The winner will be judged based on the points earned by the teams.

• Bonus points are awarded for successfully overcoming the hurdles and penalties will be enforced at appropriate places as mentioned below.

Points table:

• Returning to the finish line first : +250 pts

• Going beyond the walls surrounding the track : -50 pts

• Handling the vehicle each time after the race is started : -50 pts

• Total time taken by the vehicle to complete the race = Time taken by the vehicle to complete the track (in seconds) + Penalty for colliding with the obstacles.

• Total Points for the vehicle = Bonus points – (total time*10)

• The vehicle having higher points will be the winner.

• Extreme minor details will be on the discretion of judges.

Note:

• Bonus points for various hurdles will be mentioned on the spot.

• For the machines that cannot climb elevations or go through the depressions, water there will be an alternate path. But this will fetch no bonus points.
