Ron Eglash
"Ethno-mathematician"

Bored of theorems and formulae? Have you ever wondered how a boring math lecture can be made as fun as a cultural performance?
And now you can, with ethno- mathematics, which aims to study the diverse relationships between math and culture. A TED Talk by Ron Eglash, on this subject has been rated as one of the most jaw-dropping talks ever given.
Ron Eglash is an American cyberneticist and a university professor, who aces in ethno-mathematics. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Cybernetics, a Master's in Systems Engineering, and a Ph.D. in History of Consciousness from the University of California. Using the patterns in African architecture, art and religion as his tools he has carved a relationship between indigenous cultures and modern technology, and one such example of his creations is his way of teaching children math and computing through simulations of indigenous and vernacular cultural practices.
